Markus leads Government Affairs & Policy for GE Corporate in Europe and is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GE’s legal entity in Germany. Markus has worked in different Government Affairs & Policy roles at a regional, global and business level. He is a seasoned senior executive who brings deep domain expertise spanning across energy and environmental policy, sustainable finance, strategy, stakeholder engagement and communications. Markus was formerly the senior director for global Government Affairs & Policy for GE Oil & Gas. He has been with GE since 2007, when he joined as director of EU Government Affairs for GE’s Energy business. Prior to joining GE, Markus held different roles in Government Affairs in both the US and Europe for RWE AG. Before coming to Brussels in early 2004, Markus worked for three years in U.S. government affairs at RWE’s Washington D.C. office. Previously he led an economic development pilot project for RWE’s sales and distribution company, RWE Energy in Atlanta, GA. Prior to joining RWE in 1999, he was a legislative advisor to the Honorable Juergen Ruettgers, Federal Minister of Science, Technology and Research in Germany. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany.
